Manual hair graft extraction is a less invasive and finer method of extracting hair follicles than the motorized micro-punches generally used. The surgical procedure consists of performing an alternating rotation around the follicle, then extracting it with micro-forceps. This technique limits the risks of twisting, friction and heating of the follicles and damages neighboring grafts less than with a motorized punch. Manual extraction is done in a lateral slit, unlike the motorized micro-punch which must be placed vertically on the scalp for graft extraction.

How is a hair transplant performed?
After the interview with your hair specialist, we determine the donor and recipient areas, as well as the design of the frontal line, then we proceed to the extraction and storage of the grafts. Once these steps are completed, we move on to the implantation according to the method chosen when setting up your medical file, either by DHI method with the Choi implanter pen and/or by FUE method with an electric micro-punch with sapphire blades. In some cases, the 2 methods can be combined. During an FUE implantation, you can choose the type of blade, metal or sapphire, for opening the channels before implantation. This option is available in our different offers. Your PRP treatment will be carried out during the implantation phase. The procedure lasts on average between 5 and 8 hours, depending on the size of the area to be treated. It is generally carried out in 1 day, but can also be spread over two days, depending on the extent of the graft.
The first step of a hair transplant always begins with an interview between the patient and his surgeon. This allows both to specify the type of alopecia of the patient, to expose the different methods of hair transplant best adapted to his case. A drawing is made on the scalp of the patient, marking the area where the hair will have grown back, and corresponding to the type of implantation that the client wishes.
Regardless of the technique chosen (FUE or DHI), the operation begins with the extraction of grafts from the donor area, generally at the back of the skull. If the donor follicles are insufficient on the occiput, the surgical team can extract follicles from other hairy areas: Beard and/or torso called BHT (Body Hair Transplant). For a woman, complete alopecia is extremely rare: the follicles will be extracted from the back or sides of the skull.
To ensure the best possible results of grafting the implanted follicles, we systematically carry out the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) protocol during graft implantation. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient, centrifuged to separate the plasma and platelets from the other components. Then the platelet-rich plasma is reinjected into the scalp of the recipient area, using a micro-needle. This method stimulates the growth of the transplanted grafts.
The extracted follicles are prepared and preserved according to a protocol essential to the success of the transplantation. Counted and selected under a stereoscopic microscope, then preserved at an ideal temperature. During this passage in the laboratory, the patient takes a break, accompanied by a light lunch, to relax and regain strength before implantation. Once the grafts are ready for implantation, a local anesthetic is applied to the recipient area.
Implantation with sapphire blade (FUE):
Micro-orifices are made using a needle of less than 1mm. The depth of the incision equals the exact length of the follicle, and must avoid any injury to the numerous blood vessels covering the scalp. The incisions, which follow the design pre-established by the surgeon according to the wishes of his patient, define the future growth angle of the grafts, to restore the hair’s natural movement.
Choi Pen Implantation (DHI):
Each follicle is inserted into the scalp, according to the desired design and angle, using an implanter stylet, the needle size of which also varies depending on the follicle to be implanted.
After hair transplant
AFTER THE OPERATION
Once the operation is completed, the client is given a number of products (lotions, creams, medications, etc.) to protect their grafts and encourage their rooting, and will follow the recommendations of their surgeon for the post-operative protocol. In particular, they will avoid lowering their head, to avoid blood flow (edema) which would damage the implanted follicles, which are particularly fragile. That same evening, the patient will only take the painkillers given if necessary. Any washing product is strictly prohibited. For the first seven nights, intimate relations are prohibited, as they cause blood flow to the scalp. It is mandatory to sleep in a semi-sitting position with the trunk raised at least 30° and equipped with the inflatable neck cushion to protect the grafted areas and avoid any contact with the skull during sleep. Sleeping in your usual position will be possible from the eighth night, whether on your back or on your stomach! The dressing, applied after the operation, will be removed after 24 hours, and your first shampoo will be done at the clinic by our teams to teach and share the correct procedure with the patient. To clean the scalp, the caregiver will directly apply an antiseptic (red betadine for example) delicately and rinse with lukewarm water, under a jet whose pressure will be reduced. This way your return from Istanbul will be optimal.
RETURN AFTER OPERATION
Back home, the patient can resume normal activities while respecting the precautions, prohibitions and sleep instructions given, to successfully complete this first 7-day period.
THE MONTH FOLLOWING THE OPERATION
During this entire period, you must avoid any exposure to the sun and any other sources of heat. Do not wear a helmet or/and hat that could damage the newly implanted follicles. Sports activities, hammam, sauna, baths, swimming pool, swimming in the sea, will be prohibited.
6 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE OPERATION
For 6 months following the procedure, it is forbidden to use hair clippers, a hair dryer and/or to apply a treatment or lotion to the grafted area outside of your clinical protocol.
BETWEEN 2 WEEKS AND 4 MONTHS THE OPERATION
All of the transplanted hair falls out, between 2 and 8 weeks after the operation. From their roots, new hair will grow, between 3 and 4 months after the operation. The follicles extracted from the donor areas (back of the skull, temples) will be rooted for life, unlike the old hair previously present, because their genetic codes are different.

Frequently asked questions after surgery
Since heat is prohibited, and sports activities cause an increase in the temperature of the skull, it is better to stay calm during the first three months. Except for yoga, provided you do not adopt a position that causes a rush of blood to the head.
The first seven nights, a semi-sitting position is imposed. A suitable cushion must be provided by the medical team. From the eighth night, the patient can return to their normal position, back, side and/or stomach.
For the first 6 months, any product such as gel, hairspray, wax or coloring is prohibited. An antiseptic, such as Betadine Red, will be applied gently to the scalp, which will then be rinsed under a jet of warm water, at moderate pressure. A successful transplant is also determined by strict maintenance of the hair after the operation. Argan, sesame or coconut oil can help nourish the scalp, and mild shampoos, based on natural ingredients, will be preferred.
Finally, to optimize the graft, alcohol and tobacco must be temporarily prohibited, while a healthy diet, rich in minerals and vitamins and low in fat, allows to offer the grafted hair a well-oxygenated and nutritious blood flow.
Intimate relations should be avoided during the first 7 days, as well as any physical activity causing a blood flow, which could be fatal to the new grafts, should not be carried out during the first month, and during the 3 months for bodybuilding. Since wearing a helmet is mandatory, riding a two-wheeler should be avoided during the first month following the operation. Firefighter and riding helmets are also concerned. As for swimming, the pool or the sea will be prohibited during the first eight weeks, as well as the Hammam and the sauna. Above all, since the sun is harmful to the regrowth of young follicles, it will be necessary to avoid sun exposure during the first month, or wear a hat, such as a bob or a large and suitable cap. Heat is also harmful: hair dryers are completely prohibited during the first six months. Finally, avoid getting hot under any circumstances during the first month.

Practical information
Our primary package consists of performing a FUE hair transplant with a maximum number of grafts in one session. The operation is performed by a team of trichologists (doctors specialized in hair and scalp) with more than 10 years of practice, more than 8000 successful surgeries and using the most advanced FUE + PRP (platelet-enriched plasma) techniques. We transplant the largest number of grafts to cover the recipient areas with maximum density. Our prices do not vary according to the number of grafts performed. The procedure lasts a full day, 7 to 8 hours. Our international clinic is JCI-USA certified and a member of the largest hospital group in Europe (with 15 fully equipped hospitals).
We include PRP treatment in the procedure (estimated value €300)
PRP therapy is a treatment for hair loss that involves injecting the patient’s blood into the scalp, which has been centrifuged so that only the enriched cells (platelet-enriched plasma) remain. This enriched plasma contains essential proteins that encourage natural hair growth.
We offer a 10-year warranty certificate for transplanted grafts. This warranty is only valid when corrective surgery is necessary due to a defect in the FUE treatment procedures and the transplanted grafts do not grow. In these cases, the following treatment is free of charge, including all medical prescriptions.
The warranty does not cover hair loss caused by chronic illness, alcohol abuse or smoking.

Before the procedure, you will have a consultation with the hair surgeon, during which he will draw your hair area, determine the estimated number of grafts, check your medical history and prepare the surgical report. The day after your operation, your bandages will be removed and the surgeon will examine you and give you his recommendations.
A blood test is performed to assess whether he is suitable for the procedure.
After the procedure, our experts will give you a demonstration of the post-surgical procedures for an optimal final result (washing, medical prescriptions, post-operative daily life, etc.). If your stay lasts 4 days/3 nights, we will do your first wash at our clinic before your transfer to the airport. In case of a longer stay, we can do your washes at the clinic.
